I know what you’re thinking:

“Jeez Courtney, you’re such a tease.”

“All I care about is what you decided to do with the red ceiling…”

“Stop playing with my emotions. I can’t take the suspense any longer!”

Ok, ok. I’ve baited you enough. Here’s what we decided to do!

The red ceiling is official GONE! We decided to paint the trim and in-between ceiling planks with Advanced White (Benjamin Moore) and the beams a deep, moody brown (almost black) in Bucktrout Brown (Benjamin Moore).

Because the previous owners had used high gloss fire engine red paint, it took a tremendous amount (over 1 week) to properly prep the ceiling before painting could even begin. LOTS of primer people!

For this labor intensive project, we contracted our friend Ebodio. He makes this look easy, but in our opinion covering red paint is best handled by a professional.

John and I know our strengths, and painting is not one of them. As you can see here, John’s strength during this process was eating a sandwich. Apparently mine was taking photos.

If you look closely at the images above, you can sneak a peek at another design surprise we have up our sleeves. Can you spot it?
